About Picto
Advancements in computer technology in the early 2000s brought the possibility of computer generated images within reach of affordable hardware – just!
With Andrew working at Jaguar at the time, the possibility of running a CG company with his (far more talented) younger brother, Stephen, was too tempting to ignore. And so Picto Studios was duly formed in the Summer of 2001.
Many late nights working on exhibition stand concepts whilst wrestling with unstable software, overwhelmed computers and errant printers swiftly followed.
Despite the challenges with the emerging technology, Picto Studios were proud of their ability to ‘surprise and delight’ their clients with the best images that were technically possible at the time. And this is a goal which remains today.
Meet the team
The people behind Picto
Our dedicated team are passionate about delivering exceptional results.
Andrew Pote
After graduating from Leeds with a BSc in Engineering, Andrew spent several years in the aerospace and automotive industries before joining Jaguar Cars in 1998 as a technology project manager, with night vision for the Jaguar XKR being his final project before departing in 2001 to found Picto Studios with Stephen.
As the Managing Director of Picto, Andrew is responsible for the project delivery and account management aspects of the company. Along with ensuring the Studio has the latest and best in computer hardware, VR headsets and other equipment.
When not at his desk or on his mobile phone, Andrew can be found riding one of several of his bikes up and down as many hills as he can find, for as long as his two young children will allow him.
Stephen Pote
With a degree and a masters in design, Stephen began his career with designing & visualising exhibition stand concepts for clients such as Microsoft, Panasonic, Google and Tag Heuer.
Now as the Creative Director at Picto Studios, Stephen is responsible for the interior design elements of each project along with quality control of the final image or animation.
Stephen’s interests include science & technology, design & architecture and loves to geek out on anything sci-fi related.
Tim Pote
After completing a course in web design and development at Stockport college, Tim continued his career path building interactive websites using Macromedia Flash, joining Picto as Technical Director in 2006.
After the inevitable demise of the Flash platform, it was an obvious choice to begin specialising in 3D based technologies. Nowadays, he spends his time building rich, intuitive virtual tours for desktop, mobile and VR headset deployment, along with maintaining and upgrading the IT infrastructure here at Picto.
His spare time is split between cycling, a good video game and more often than not, out on his motorbike.
Mark Saunders
Mark started his career in 2d as a Draughtsman and swiftly moved into 3d projects, now specialising in Architectural Visualisation.
He loves discovering new and creative ways to help showcase the 3d work he does, with exciting technologies such as VR, game engines and the 3d web.
When he’s not working, he can usually be found enjoying a computer game or producing music.
